To support innovative and interdisciplinary research teams focused on clinical, health services, and community-based interventions addressing health and healthcare disparities related to NCDs.
Enhance understanding of factors contributing to improving minority health and eliminating health disparities.
Research teams from U.S. and Latin American institutions.
Populations affected by NCDs in Latin America and among U.S. Hispanics/Latinos.
Eligible organizations include higher education institutions, nonprofits, for-profit organizations, local and state governments, and tribal governments.
Non-domestic (non-U.S.) entities are not eligible to apply.
Research teams must include at least one PI or MPI from institutions in Latin America.
Projects should be conducted in Latin American countries where Spanish is the main language.
Focus on clinical, health services, and community-based interventions addressing NCDs.
Projects should demonstrate impact on health outcomes and health/healthcare disparities.
Application budgets are not limited but must reflect actual project needs.
No cost-sharing is required.
Application due date is May 7, 2027.
Opening date for applications is February 5, 2025.
Applicant organizations may submit more than one application, provided each is scientifically distinct.

Applications will be evaluated for scientific and technical merit based on significance, innovation, rigor, and feasibility.
Applications will undergo peer review and will be evaluated for completeness and compliance.
Scientific and technical merit, availability of funds, and relevance to program priorities will be considered.
Research teams must include both U.S.-based and Latin America-based investigators.
Applications lacking key personnel from Latin America with substantial involvement will be deemed non-responsive.
Collaborations with investigators from Latin American countries with low representation in the U.S. Hispanic/Latino population are encouraged.
Projects that include studies conducted in countries with higher representation in the U.S. Hispanic/Latino population will be prioritized.
Strong partnerships with Latin American collaborators are essential.
Avoid applications that do not address unique public health needs related to NCDs.
Demonstrate the impact of proposed strategies on health outcomes and disparities.
Highlight the interdisciplinary nature of the research team and the innovative approaches proposed.
