Purpose & Target

Financial Structure

  • Overall maximum grant per student: €10,000 regardless of the number of blocks applied for.

  • There are 6 different grant blocks, each with specific maximums:
  • Refund of tuition and registration fees (Block 2.1): Maximum €3,500 per beneficiary. Covers credits enrolled for the first time and additional fees at ETSETB and host institution. Only semesters beginning before 30/06/2027.
  • Reimbursement of documentation costs (Block 2.2): Maximum €1,000 per beneficiary. Covers visa, life/health/accident/civil liability insurance, language accreditation, sworn translation.
  • Contribution to specialized training (Block 2.3): Maximum €1,500 per beneficiary. For specialization courses related to GreenChips-EDU during international mobility.
  • Contribution to expenses for scientific achievements (Block 2.4): For achievements during international mobility related to GreenChips-EDU objectives, expenses before 30/06/2027.
    • Publication in 1st/2nd quartile journals (full open access): Maximum €1,000.
    • Publication in 3rd/4th quartile journals (full open access): Maximum €500.
    • Poster preparation for scientific congress: Maximum €100.
    • Attendance at international scientific congress (CORE B or higher): Maximum €1,500 for registration, travel, accommodation, meals (up to €2,000 if CORE A*).
  • Contribution to short-term mobility stays (Block 2.5): Maximum €1,500. For stays less than 2 months, not covered by Erasmus+, carried out while enrolled in MEE and before 30/06/2027. Covers transport, accommodation, meals for international events (e.g., summer campus) or master's thesis completion.
  • Contribution to long-term mobility stays (Block 2.6): Monthly grant of €500 for living/transport expenses, for stays over 2 months, up to a maximum of 12 months, always before 30/06/2027. Maximum €6,000 per beneficiary.
  • Ineligible costs for Block 2.6: Cannot coincide with any other EU-funded grant for the same concepts (e.g., Erasmus+).
  • Modality 3.1 (Double Degree Promotion) specific financial points:
  • Block 2.1 expenses covered up to 4 consecutive semesters, including ETSETB and destination credits. Includes degree issuance fees (UPC and international) paid before 31/07/2027.
  • Block 2.6 expenses include semesters taking the double degree program at ETSETB, prior to international mobility.
  • Modality 3.2 (International Mobility Promotion) specific financial points:
  • Block 2.1 expenses limited to a maximum of 2 consecutive semesters of mobility.
  • Documentation proving expenses incurred will be required for all modalities.

Eligibility Requirements

Organizational Eligibility (Individual/Student Level)
  • Candidates must be admitted to the MEE Master's degree taught at ETSETB or have applied for admission for the 2025/2026 academic year or later. This means simultaneous application for admission or current enrollment.
  • Applicants for 'Promotion of the double degree programmes of the MEE' (Modality 3.1) must have been granted a place in the MEE double degree program at the time of evaluation, or have an endorsement from the Head of Studies of MEE and Deputy Director of International Relations of ETSETB.
  • Citizenship: Must be an EU citizen or a citizen of Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, or Ukraine.
  • Enrollment: Must be enrolled, at the time of application, in a program linked to the field of electronic engineering or similar, in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) located in the EU, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, or Ukraine.
  • Expense Relation: For grants in blocks 2.3 (Specialized Training) and 2.4 (Scientific Achievements), expenses must be directly related to the themes underpinning the GreenChips-EDU project.

Application Process

Application Deadlines
  • Applications can be submitted from the day after the publication of this call until the available budget is exhausted, and in any case, until June 1, 2027.
Submission Method
  • Applications must be submitted through the UPC's e-Office.
  • Fill in the 'UPC-GREENCHIPS-EDU scholarship form'.
Required Documentation and Materials
  • Cover letter: Detail academic merits, personal/social/economic/work situation, and academic performance relevant to the scholarship.
  • List of grants requested: Specify which grant blocks (from Section 2) the student is applying for.
  • Average grade document: Provide official document stating the average grade of a completed bachelor's or master's degree directly linked to electronic engineering or GreenChips-EDU objectives. Also, include the average grade of students who completed that same degree in the last 5 years (or as many promotions available).
  • Accreditation of described situations/merits: Documentary proof for any personal, social, economic, or work situations, or additional academic merits claimed in the cover letter or application.
  • Mobility place accreditation: Proof of having been granted an international mobility place in one of the approved destinations, or a signed endorsement from the Head of Studies of the MEE and Deputy Director of International Relations. This document must specify the mobility destination and estimated period abroad.
  • Justification for specialized training (if applying for Block 2.3): A document justifying the training's convenience, including course/activity name, description, purpose, entity teaching it, and location.
  • Publication/poster copy (if applying for Block 2.4): Copy of the publication or poster, full reference number of the place of publication, and all documentation required by UPC to prove related expenses.
Resolution Process
  • Applications will be assessed by a selection committee composed of members of the Academic Committee of the MEE Master's Degree.
  • Resolutions will be announced electronically to all candidates.
  • Information on awarded scholarships will be published on the GreenChips-EDU project website.

Evaluation Criteria

Scoring System (Total 35 points)
  • Academic performance (20 points): Measured by average grade (g) of a completed bachelor's or master's degree in electronic engineering or related to GreenChips-EDU, compared to the average grade (gavg) of students who completed the same degree in the last 5 years. Normalized according to minimum (gmin) and maximum (gmax) grades. Applicants are responsible for providing g, gavg, gmax, and gmin, certified by the institution.
  • Additional academic merits (5 points): Assesses merits beyond academic performance.
  • (+1 point) Completed a bachelor's or master's degree beyond the one used for academic performance calculation.
  • (+1 point) Received a recognition or award for academic activity (excluding honors).
  • (+1 point) Author of a publication or poster in a conference or research journal.
  • (+1 point) Demonstrates training in sustainability or green electronics.
  • (+1 point) Developed projects related to electronics beyond degree requirements.
  • Professional experience (5 points): Valued based on accredited work experience in electronic engineering.
  • (1 point) Between 100 and 500 hours.
  • (2 points) Between 500 and 900 hours.
  • (3 points) Between 900 and 1800 hours.
  • (4 points) More than 1800 hours.
  • (+1 additional point) If work experience is in sustainability or green electronics.
  • Positive gender discrimination (2 points): Assigned to female applicants to improve female presence in the MEE master's degree.
  • Situation of vulnerability (2 points): Applicant receives points if they can prove socio-economic vulnerability (e.g., through other grants).
  • Motivation and alignment with the call (1 point): Assesses the student's motivation and the application's alignment with the grant objectives.
Selection Priorities:
  • In case of a tie score, applications under Modality 3.1 (Promotion of double degree programmes) will have priority over Modality 3.2 (Promotion of international mobility).

Compliance & Special Requirements

Thematic Alignment
  • Expenses for grants in blocks 2.3 (specialized training) and 2.4 (scientific achievements) must be directly related to the themes that underpin the GreenChips-EDU project.
Financial Restrictions
  • The long-term mobility contribution (Block 2.6) cannot coincide in time with any other grant for the same concepts that is funded by an EU program (e.g., Erasmus+).
Documentation and Verification
  • Documentation proving expenses incurred will be required for reimbursement.
  • Applicants are solely responsible for providing academic grade data (g, gavg, gmin, gmax); failure to do so will result in 0 points in the academic performance section.
  • Academic grade information must be certified by the institution where the bachelor's or master's degree was obtained.
Equity and Inclusion
  • Positive gender discrimination: Female applicants will receive 2 additional points in the evaluation to improve female presence in the MEE master's degree.
  • Socioeconomic vulnerability: Applicants can receive 2 points if they can prove a situation of socioeconomic vulnerability, potentially through accreditation from other grants.
