Applicants must be early stage investigators (ESI) within 10 years of completing their terminal research degree or medical residency.
Must hold an independent research position at a U.S. institution as of September 1 of the fiscal year of the competition.

Achieving long-term suppression of HIV
Applicants must demonstrate skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research.
Application budgets are limited to $375,000 in direct costs each year for up to four years.
All funds will be disbursed in the first year of the award.
