Grant Analysis

Purpose & Target

This scholarship aims to promote lifelong learning and skill development in advanced digital areas for European citizens. It targets individuals who have completed specific short-term digital skills courses at VILNIUS TECH, encouraging re-skilling and up-skilling, especially for those without a prior ICT education or early graduates. This is a SECTOR-SPECIFIC grant focused on digital skills.

Financial Structure

  • Total Funding Available (VILNIUS TECH): Up to 3000 EUR is available in total to be distributed for these scholarships by VILNIUS TECH.
  • Individual Scholarship Amount: A scholarship of 100 EUR can be awarded for each successfully completed short-term course.
  • Maximum Per Person: One person can apply for each course they finish, but the total amount of scholarships received by one individual cannot exceed 1000 EUR.
  • Currency: All amounts are in Euros (EUR).
  • Eligible Costs: Scholarship funds are intended to cover study expenses, including:
    • Purchase of necessary hardware or software for studying.
    • Living and travel costs directly related to ensuring study availability.
    • Other study-related expenses.
  • Ineligible Costs: The scholarship must not lead to a 'double funding situation', meaning it cannot cover expenses already covered by another source.
  • Payment Mechanism: Funds will be transferred to the applicant's provided bank details upon signing a scholarship award agreement.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria: - Citizenship: You must be a citizen of an European Union (EU) member state. - Course Completion: You must have successfully completed a short-term course (of at least 6 ECTS) offered by the MERIT project at VILNIUS TECH. The course must have been taken between September 2024 and June 2026. - Academic Performance: You need to achieve a 'good' (at least 8 out of 10) or higher final score in the completed short-term course. - Current Student Status: You must not be an officially enrolled student of VILNIUS TECH at the time of application. - Purpose of Scholarship: The scholarship funds must be used solely to cover study-related expenses, such as travel, purchase of study materials or resources, and other costs associated with the course taking. You must confirm that receiving this scholarship will not lead to 'double funding' (meaning you're not getting money for the same expenses from another source).

Application Process

  • Application Submission Window: Applications can be submitted after completing each short-term course, but must be received before June 2026.
  • Submission Deadline: The latest possible application deadline is 2026-05-01 10:00:00+0000.

  • Review Process: Applications are considered by the Programme Study Programme Committee in the first week of each month.
  • Notification: You will be informed of the application results within 5 working days after the decision is made.

If inaccuracies are confirmed, the assessment will be corrected and scholarship award resumed.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications are evaluated based on a scoring system, with a total of 5 possible points. An application is eligible for funding if it achieves at least 3 points.
  • Justification of Scholarship Need: Up to 1 point is awarded if the reasons provided for needing the scholarship are clearly related to ensuring your ability to study.
  • Justification of Re-/Up-skilling Need: Up to 1 point is awarded if your stated need for re-skilling or up-skilling is well-justified, and the reason for taking the course is relevant and timely.
  • Course Results: Points are awarded based on your final mark in the short-term course:
    • A final mark of 8 (on a 10-point scale) earns 1 point.
    • A final mark of 9 earns 2 points.
    • A final mark of 10 earns 3 points.
Applications that meet the minimum 3-point threshold are then prioritized by their total score, with higher-scoring applications being considered first.
