Researchers in the fields of communication disorders and HIV/AIDS.
Eligible organization types include higher education institutions, nonprofits, for-profit organizations, local and state governments, and tribal governments.
Non-domestic (non-U.S.) entities are also eligible to apply.
Open to U.S. and non-domestic entities.
Projects must address high-priority HIV/AIDS research areas.
Clinical trials must be low-risk and not require FDA oversight.
Maximum budget of $499,999 in direct costs per year.
No cost-sharing is required.
Application due dates are set for January 7, 2028.
Letter of Intent due 30 days prior to application due date.
Applicants may submit more than one application as long as each is scientifically distinct.
Applications must follow the instructions in the Research (R) Instructions in the How to Apply - Application Guide.
Applications will be evaluated based on scientific and technical merit.
Applications will undergo peer review and will be evaluated for completeness and compliance.
Scientific merit and relevance to program priorities will be considered.
Only low-risk clinical trials will be supported.
Applications proposing high-risk clinical trials will be considered non-responsive.
Encouragement of multidisciplinary collaborations.
Strong emphasis on addressing communication disorders in individuals with HIV.
Alignment with NIH research priorities.
Submitting applications that do not comply with the guidelines.
