Eligibility Requirements

Applicant Type
  • Must be an individual person (student).
  • Must be a citizen of the European Union (EU).
Academic Status
  • Must be matriculated to the 'Industrial Engineering and Management' (MARM) master's degree program at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech).
  • Must be a full-time student.
  • Must cumulatively complete the full curriculum.
  • The study volume to be completed per semester is 30 ECTS. (Note: 'ECTS' definition is not specified in grant materials, but typically refers to European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
  • The volume of the curriculum completed with the recognition of previous studies and work experience (APEL) is not included in the completed volume of the curriculum, except for formal education completed elsewhere during studies.

Application Process

Application Periods
  • Applications are accepted twice per academic year: in September and in February.
  • Autumn semester deadline: September 30, 2025, for students applying in the autumn semester.
  • Spring semester deadline: February 28, 2026, for students applying in the spring semester.
Submission Method
  • Applicants must submit a free-form application via e-mail.
  • The application should be sent to the study consultant of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.

    • Student code
    • First and last name
    • Bank account number (for scholarship payment).
Award Notification
  • The recipients of the MERIT scholarship are confirmed by the dean no later than five working days before the scheduled payment date.

  • The outcome of the scholarship call will be published on the TalTech website; however, specific rankings will not be published.

Evaluation Criteria

Primary Scoring Factors
  • Applications are ranked based on the weighted average grade of the semester in which the student participated in studies.
  • If a student has been studying at a foreign educational institution during the last semester, the weighted average grade is calculated based on the last semester of study at TalTech.
Tie-breaking Factors
  • If multiple students have an equal weighted average grade for the last semester of participation in studies:
    • First, the weighted average grade for the entire period of study at TalTech is taken into account.
    • Second, preference is given to the applicant who has a higher percentage of completion of the study volume required by the curriculum.

Scholarship Maintenance Conditions

Misinformation and Fraud
  • If it is discovered that false information was submitted during the scholarship application process, the payment of the scholarship will be terminated immediately.
  • The university reserves the right to reclaim any scholarship funds already paid if false information was provided.
